How to prevent or relieve motion sickness in dogs during car rides
Motion sickness during travel occurs in some dogs, usually in young dogs and puppies, and decreases over time, but in some dogs it persists into adulthood. There are natural remedies that can relieve stomach discomfort.
01
Ginger supplement or freshly grated ginger.
Ginger is very effective in treating nausea and stomach problems. It warms and soothes the intestines and is often used to combat nausea and nausea associated with intensive therapies. Ginger is a “Qi tonic,” meaning it gives the body energy, or Qi.
How does ginger work?
a) Improved gastric emptying
moves food through the intestines and reduces discomfort and bloating after meals. This effect reduces acid reflux and associated discomfort. It can replace famotidine or other antacids when we’re trying to reduce symptoms of burping and reflux in our pets.
b) Reduces bloating
can help reduce the risk of bloat in breeds prone to this disorder. Ginger stimulates the production of saliva and bile, which helps digest food more efficiently.
DOSAGE
For dogs weighing 6-10 kg you can give 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground ginger root (so just a little)
IMPORTANT
Be sure to test before traveling, don’t give your dog any new type of food on the day of travel.
02
Nausi tab tablets
Contain ginger – soothes the stomach, contains very effective substances that inhibit certain transmitters of the vomiting center and thus work against nausea in the same way as synthetic agents.
03
Essential Oils
Ginger essential oil gives excellent results in preventing motion sickness, especially in combination with peppermint and cardamom essential oils, primarily through inhalation and dermal application to the stomach area (properly diluted).
